Serviced apartments with hotel amenities

Built in 2008, and renovated in 2010, Column Bangkok is bang up-to-date with great facilities. We find it difficult to find fault with this hotel. The hotel offers a nice view over Benjakitti Park and is close to both BTS (Sky train) and MRT (metro) stations. The restaurant is excellent and the rooms are large with loads of facilities. We can’t imagine many guests being disappointed with their stay here.

Column Bangkok is home to a fashionable restaurant: Long Table. This is currently one of the top restaurants in the city for ‘hi-so’ (high society in Bangkok parlance) Thais. The unique selling point of the restaurant is the 25 metre dining table, where all dinners are seated. There are also some sofa seats in the restaurants which is also a popular cocktail bar later in the evening. The menu includes a good range of creative Thai dishes and some fusion dishes such as beef steak with Som Tom (green papaya salad) and sticky rice. Long Table employs a group of international DJs to provide the background music. All achingly cool; bring some fashionable clothes if you want to fit in.

The pool is noteworthy also. It hangs vertiginously off the side of the upper floors of the building . Again achingly cool.

One thing to bear in mind is that this hotel is actually a collection of serviced apartments, albeit with hotel style service. The smallest room is the Studio Executive which is a massive 50 to 62 sqm. Like all rooms at the Column, it has a kitchenette and a washing machine and a dryer in the large bathroom. Everything you would need for a long stay. The One Bed Executive is 81 to 97sqm and includes 2 toilets and a separate living/dining room. The Two Bed Executive is 118 sqm. The styling of the rooms is extremely good as well. We particularly like the parquet wooden floors and the stylish use of fabrics. We also like the complimentary English language newspapers, fresh fruit and broad band internet. If this wasn’t enough, they also offer complimentary late check out at 4pm – really handy if you want to relax before a late flight home at the end of your holiday.
