Soi 8 to 12 Guide

Soi 8 is the place to eat in the area. We recommend: Kinnaree Gourmet, an upmarket Thai restaurant; India Today, an Indian restaurant catering to the tastes of the British market; La Banyan, Bangkok's finest French restaurant; and Stable Lodge, which is one of Bangkok's few Scandinavian restaurants. Soi 10 doesn't have much in the way of restaurants or bars; it's all hotels and apartment blocks, although if you walk to the bottom end you come out to a beautiful large park called Benjakiti Park that was reclaimed from a former industrial complex in the early 1980s. Soi 12 is a long narrow street which is a bit difficult to walk up and down, but with a couple of really great restaurants like Cabbages and Condoms. At the start of Soi 12 is the Sukhumvit Plaza where the unofficial Korea Town is found. There are plenty of Korean restaurants inside where you can feast on Korean BBQ, bibimbab as well as less heard of dishes.

We rate this area as a good option for family visitors and couples looking for a bit more sophistication.

  • Soi 8: Chuvit Gardens - Public gardens
  • Soi 10: Benjakiti Park - Large park with lake
